How to and when to Creating a manual Restore Point in System Restore
- You must be logged on to an administrator account
- Go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools System Restore.
- Click Create a restore point, and then click Next.
- In the text box labeled Restore Point Description, type a name for this restore point such as “installing new hardware”, “installing new software”.
A manual restore point should be created any time a potentially unstable change is being made, including before installing new software, new hardware or before making a simple configuration change. If in doubt, create a restore point.
